Facebook: It's over

I am a tweet-a-holic.  *Gasp* *Shock*  *Whispers behind gloved hands*

This should not be confused with Lynsay the milk-aholic baby on the eTrade commercials.  I know, I know you are all at this very moment chanting, "Tweet-a-what?"

This is not the first time I have posted about my dependence fascination with twitter.  But I can quit anytime I want to.  But why would I want to?  I have met some of the most amazing folks through this social media revolution.  Folks that I would never have crossed paths with any other way and I am pretty excited about the fact that one day I will be able to say I knew him/her/undecided back in the day.

In fact my love of twitter has become so absolute that facebook has become jealous issuing threats and demanding attention.  I just can't be the master of two mistress'.  I have tried but it is getting harder and harder until eventually one of them has been feeling neglected with the relationship eroding away to nothing.

Being dumped is not pretty and a public end is even less so.  Friends are urging me to give facebook another chance, but I just don't have it in me.  Why should I pretend any longer?  The spark is gone.

It was fun while it lasted but I just out grew my relationship with facebook and I hope one day facebook understands and can live with the fact that I just want to be friends.

Oh, wait.  No I don't.

Loved this! Could have written it -- verbatim -- myself! Closed my FB account in April when they were doinkling about with privacy issues. Have moved to Twitter & never looked back.

I am right there with you. I haven't broken up with FB yet because my niece posts pictures of her son up there, but we just don't hang out as much as we used to.

Twitter rocks because I've met you there, my sister chocolate fan!

LOL! I so know what you mean. My Facebook page has suffered since I joined Twitter. Admittedly, also since my mother joined Facebook. I have to be careful what I post there, or I get 25 calls a day, asking what I meant by "that." It was eating into my writing time. ;)

[My verification word: "unsinger." Wow. It's like they KNOW me.]

Kelly! Dearest, you are the reason I get on twitter five times a day and stay on for way too long! I'm with you. I have met loads of fascinating people and it is worth it!

i signed up for twitter in march 2009. i broke up with facebook that same day. i still have my account, but i don't ever check it.

which can be slightly annoying when all of my friends are like, "oh did you see so and so's pictures?" and i stand there blank faced. i guess it would be more productive if everyone else i knew broke up with facebook too. (or at least sent out alerts when new photos are posted).

Very funny post! But, um, er, well, um, I feel like a double agent because I still dig FB...it's a great way to keep up with old friends I know in real life. And I like seeing pics of everyone and their kids, etc. Do you still respect me? HEH. :)
