Because I said so.

Follow Friday is a trend on twitter that really irritates me.

I don't know why.

Oh, yeah I do.  It makes me feel that if I leave someone out I am saying they are not good enough to follow.  Which of course is just such bull...er...puckey.  I am trying to keep it clean today.

So I am officially opting out of follow Friday on Twitter.  Not because I don't appreciate all the folks who offer me up as their example of a great follow (does that sound dirty?) but because I hate leaving people out.  If they said you can only offer up one person as a follow Friday that would have more meaning but to just jump on the band wagon because everyone else is doing it...well I just can't anymore.

What I am going to do is high light some of my favorites.  The ones that I follow and I why I do that.  They are all worthy, but each for different reasons.  Since I spent about an hour last night trying to figure out who should go first, I finally devised an Excel spreadsheet and had my husband pick a number.    I logged them in no particular order than sorted them alphabetically.  I have serious problems, I know.

So without any further ado...I give you the first of my many follow Friday recommendations. (I am posting this today instead of tomorrow because I am picking a winner for the book contest tomorrow.)

We are going to start with Ms. Karla Nellenbach.  (Your number was 69 and my husband giggled when he picked it.) (Of course I have no idea why.) (And of course I should not have been surprised when he picked that one.)

Okay so why do I think you should follow Karla or @LastWord0524, well for starters because she is my Ninja sparring partner and there is nothing like a good Ninja sparring partner when you are feeling down.  We tweet our Ninja greatness back and forth (sometimes she wins but its mostly me, of course if you asked her she would say she mostly wins but since this is my blog...well you get the drift.)

Her blog is pretty awesome too.  You can find her here at the LastWord.  She likes to tease us with little tidbits of her writing, which so far as I can see if pretty awesome.  She also writes great book reviews.  I know I listen to her.

She always makes me laugh and is a total smart ass.  (I know I said I was keeping it clean.  Sue me.  There is no other way to describe her.  I even tried looking up another word in the thesaurus just in case there was a better way to say it and the only word that jumped out at me was cocky (and she is) but I think smart ass just says it better!)

So if you don't follow Karla, you should.  And if you already do than you know what I speak is the truth.  And since I am always looking for new people to follow please offer up one of your favorites so I can go and follow them today.  Not fifty, just one.  I am listening.  And I promise to follow.  Wow, that is some power I am handing out to you guys today!

I so know what you mean. I stopped doing #FFs a long time ago for the the same reason--I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving them out. And if you don't leave people out, you wind up doing huge lists, until it's just #FF tweet-spam. I like your idea.

I already follow Karla--you're right, she's cool. :)

Do you follow @debwriteromance yet? She's a buddy of mine from way back. Super sweet, and talented too.

heheheh...#69..hehehehe. How'd you know that was my favorite number?

Aw! Thanks for the dedication! (and thank to Capt. Kidd for picking my number) This is a GREAT idea! I, too, have gotten a little tired of the #FF thing. I might just have to steal this tool from you ;)

FYI: I am not just ninja...I'm a ninja pirate and ninja pirates trump plain old ninjas any day of the week and TWICE on Sunday. I'm just saying :)

GREAT IDEA!

I have the same anxiety "EEK! I'm going to forget someone!"

I like the lengthy #FF blog recommendation!

I pretty much stopped #FF when I started working 10 hr days on Fridays. Ran out of time!

I also stopped #FFing (and boy, did that come out wrong).

I HAVE left out people and then I feel just awful about it later.

I think this is a great idea and agree, Karla is Da Bomb!

LOVE this idea. i like the in-depth description because it gives you a sense of who you're about to follow.

or, in my case, who i already follow.

i didn't know about this ninja (pirate or otherwise) side of Karla, so now i know i have to watch my back around her. cause you never know when she's going to sneak up on you.

Whoops! I didn't leave my suggestion. I blame you for making me giggle over the whole 69 thingee :)

@Kate_Hart she's a fellow YA writer who does cool arts and crafts, and she was one of my first blog/Twitter followers. :)

This is SUCK a better idea! I still do it, but only for the people who recently @replied to me, or sent me one. I also hate leaving people out.

I guess I never worried much about it - because it doesn't bother me if people don't rec me, so I assume people aren't waiting around to see if I rec *them*. I #FF those I've been recently communicating with, or who are consistently in contact with me, or who for some reason stood out over the past week or two (I don't participate every week - who has time?). Normally people whose blog post stood out or who recently released a book, etc.

But hey...I say if you like it, do it. If not, don't. I really don't think it's the big deal people make it out to be. We all like to think others are waiting with bated breath to see who we'll recommend, but I seriously doubt that's true - it's more our own ego talking than any real drama, IMO. ;-)

In any case - I'll leave you one name to check out: @MelissaEcker - very friendly and fun romance author. :-)

I don't do #ff's often at all. I for one have way too many people I consider worthy of following too and if I posted all of them I'd flood people's twitter feed out.

I also feel like you do, what if I left someone out!? I did one a couple weeks ago just for fun to recognize some new followers that started following me because I had a week where for some reason I got a TON of new followers, but I generally don't do them either.

I consider everyone I follow worthy and there are so many more that are worthy as well.
